Frequently Asked Questions

  • 7Who lives in assisted living centers?

A: Assisted living centers are designed to meet the needs of those individuals who are having difficulty managing on their own, but do not require the intensive medical services of long-term care in nursing homes. Assisted living is an affordable, residential alternative to traditional institutional care.

Assisted living residents still manage their lives on their own except they may require assistance with daily activities of life. Therefore the assisted living care homes typically provide help with things such as: housekeeping, transportation, toileting, dressing, and cooking.

  • 7What does assisted living cost?

A: The cost will vary according to the level and type of services required by each resident. Our monthly fee will cover just about everything in most cases.

Rate Range: $2650 - $3000 for private rooms

    Medication is not included

    Telephone is $25

  • 7Will my insurance, Medicare or Medicaid cover the cost?

A: Long-term insurance policies may cover the cost of assisted living services if specified. Medicare does not provide coverage at the present time, however it covers 'home services' as they reside in the assisted living. In Utah assisted living is private pay. VA Benefits are available to veterans and their spouses. "New Choices Waiver" program is available to Medicaid eligible residents. Contact us for more information regarding these programs.

  • 7What if the resident requires specialized services?

A: RN Coordinates a health & wellness plan individualized for each resident. RN works with residents and their families when resident appointments are needed so the families can schedule doctor appointments or other needs that fit their schedule.

Home health, physical therapy, podiatrist service, denture repair, hospice are available on-site as needed. These services are generally covered by Medicare.

  • Is the cost of assisted living tax deductible?

A: Under the provisions of the Kennedy Kassebaum Act of 1996, much of the cost of assisted living may be tax-deductible to the resident, or to a family member if the resident is a dependent. This act states that the cost of personal care services required by an individual may be tax-deductible if that individual cannot perform at least two activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing or eating. The services provided must be part of a health care plan prescribed by a licensed health care practitioner. We urge you to consult your tax advisor about this potential financial benefit.
